Generative AI – Why it’s a Game Changer

Every industry has been proactively interested in Large Language Models (LLM) and Generative AI in the past few years. Generative AI has been receiving unprecedented levels of interest from global tech giants and the public alike in such a short time span. Most of the companies today are trying to optimize their processes, operations and technology using AI capabilities, embarking a new era of transformation and inquisitiveness. We’d like to provide our insight and thoughts as to why Gen AI could be the next step into the future, provoking the public by potentially disrupting existing jobs, but boosting tremendous amounts of annual growth for any organization incorporating Gen AI. 

What is GenAI? 

GenAI is a type of artificial intelligence, capable of producing data objects such text, pictures, and sound in response to the user’s prompts or descriptions. The GenAI models are trained to understand the patterns and structures of their training data and use that as a reference to generate outputs with similar characteristics. The more common and often mentioned sub concept is the implantation of Large Language Models (LLM) in the form of ChatGPT & Gemini.

Applications of GenAI

AI has the potential to reinvent roles in any enterprise; imagine humans working with AI co-pilots that eradicates human errors, notably augmenting reality and results that people achieve in months. Here is how it will impact core responsibilities:  

  1. Coding and Development: GenAI has already started to “widgetize” blocks of code for consumption. It is not only able to transform code from language to language, but correcting errors also based on the input and context, suggesting methodology to improve efficiency and coding practices. While it is still far away from overtaking an entry level programmer, it will be able to boost productivity.  
  1. Security: Compliance has been hitting ChatGPT on its lack of copyright infringement and its lack of authoritative monitoring. However, AI can monitor network activity, prioritize and fix anomalies. Compared to humans, AI bots can analyze large sets of data to identify fraudulent or suspicious activity in a short time span.  
  1. Constructing: Although we are far off from creating self-thinking AI to make creative and inspiring decisions, we can leverage Gen AI for other creative means. It creates new thoughts, algorithms, and structures by smartly & effectively combining existing but unrelated objects. We see this in music compositions, where we can instruct the algorithm to combine melodies or even compose entire pieces of music base on simple instructions.

Healthcare: Given Human Biology is an enormous study, there are a vast number of medical procedures, specialists of specific areas, tons of research to study and counter new diseases and developments, and thousands of chemical compounds intended to react with the human body. What does this all mean? There are tons of data to train a GenAI solution. GenAI can help us identify new drug combinations and precision medicine, by creating new molecular structures or reinventing existing ones, which has been a tedious and exhausting process today of trial and error.   
  1. Creating New Jobs: GenAI is a powerful tool for large organizations to play a part in development, innovation, improvement and staying aligned with the trends. However, it would still require human efforts to build and maintain AI. Courses have been added to online and college curriculum which would help you build skills in technicalities like AI engineering and AI in architecture.  

The Potential Impact of GenAI on Jobs

With the ability to generate a wide range of content almost instantaneously, people in the tech industry have been raising concerns about the potential disruption of jobs. We have noticed that GenAI has been able to create text, code, images, videos and even sounds when the prompt is provided with enough clarity. Here are a few examples:

  1. Automation of Reptitive Tasks: Certain aspects of customer service, manufacturing, data entry and transportation have a good number of tasks that are repetitive. These can be automated to boost the overall productivity and increase the value delivered to the clients in a shorter timespan.
  2. Complex Problem Analysis: Mathematical and scientific problems that are highly complex may require some extra effort, but could potentially be addressed with the help of AI.
  3. Creation of Creative Content: Filmmaking, music, and video games could have a direct impact with faster time to market, reduced production timelines and costs.

Although it may seem like AI can become a serious threat, there are a lot of ethical and moral concerns about the usage of AI in real-life situations. Social scientists and professionals will need to take into account the long term affects of complete adoption. From our perspective, with the right regulations, AI can become a powerful tool that will assist humans rather than replace them.

Overall, AI will be nothing short of transformative for the world and will have a huge positive impact on productivity and human creativity. The possibilities seem endless, and almost overwhelming. GenAI is here to stay, and adapting its technology will help us further optimize existing processes, create better digital experiences and make revolutionary discoveries.
